3 winning strategies from my mentors:
1. Integrity is a very important trait to possess and exercise – It is tempting to ease on this virtue when you see other professionals show a lack in this trait, however, it is very prudent to stay true and honest with yourself, your team, and your audience. Read “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie to learn more.
2. Learn from others’ mistakes – I’ve sought mentors to help me navigate around uncertainties. I’ve been fortunate enough to speak to highly successful business leaders who shared their stories of grit and fortitude to overcome challenging periods. Running a company and managing a team is not for the faint of heart. It takes hard work, commitment, and courage to operate a business during difficult times.
3. Have Discernment – on the people you surround yourself with, the clients or projects you accept, the staff you hire, or the investments you make. What you see is not always what you get. With the advent of fake personas online or in the media, it is critical to spend the extra time to research and do due diligence. I see too many people making quick decisions and losing. Create a parameter around your brand virtues and core values and measure your final decisions around them.
